Q: Speeding up delivery process ?

I went to the doctors and he said that nothing was going on meaning i was not dilated or anything is the way i took it....then he sent me over to the hospital to have a stress test and sonogram done. I was being monitored and everything. he said that the baby looks great but was not going to bring on my labor he was just going to let the baby come. I am 36 weeks and beyond ready for this baby. The nurse came in to discharge me and told me that i am dilated 1 cm is there anything that i can do to make this process go any faster? My contractions are a min to a min and a half apart and they are lasting a min and half. But my water has not broke yet and i am having all kinds of discharge. the doctor said that the discharge was not my water but never said what it was.

Even though, according to some websites, you are "full term", you should let labor progress naturally. The discharge, depending on what it looks like, is most likely your cervical plug starting to thin out (that looks like whitish-clear blood tinged mucous). The best way to naturally help the progress of labor is to walk. It is not only good exercise, but it helps the baby drop and puts added pressure on the cervix, allowing it to dilate further.
