A bad smell from the mouth is usually a sign of degrading products. They can originate from ingested food or from a degrading tissue from the body itself. The food can be collected in any abnormal cavity including the teeth. Minor ulcers on the throat and laryngeal mucosa might have also caused this. If the smell is accompanied with a burning sensation in the chest, then an inflammation of the stomach might have occurred.

You might want to visit your dentist and/or an ear, nose and throat specialist.
A specific smell from the mouth appears also in men with diabetes (acetone smell), so you might want to test your blood for blood glucose levels.
