Q: Sore tonsils and stomach pain

I have had some health issues of late and can't get someone to pin it down.

Symptoms:
Right tonsil sores and white spots (2) about a month ago with a fever and a couple times something around my lower left stomach hurt.

Went to the doctor and received antibiotics. I don't think they really helped, but a week after the visit it subsided. There were weird marks left on the tonsil.

A week ago it showed up on the left tonsil (one white spot and very irritated) but no fever.
Yesterday I started coughing up phlegm with some blackness to it and a couple of times the stomach pain has arisen when I stretch.

- I'm not sure if the stomach thing is related -

The one spot on my left tonsil is extremely painful at times and it's been there for over a week. I thought it was getting better and it is still very red, but the black phlegm makes me concerned.

Any Ideas??? I already paid one trip to the Dr. and don't have a lot of funds with paying my own health insurance and just trying to survive the economy after graduating college...

I don't smoke at all and don't drink much.
23 year old male.
Run and weight train regularly.

Sounds like you still have tonsillitis. Sometimes the first round of antibiotics doesn't get rid of an infection. The black in the phlegm might be blood. You could have a lung infection, too. According to a very reputable clinic website (I can't say which one, since that would be advertising), tonsillitis that is accompanied by abdominal pain needs to be checked by a doctor.

Since it's been more than a week, you really need to go back to the doctor. I know it's expensive, but these infections can lead to complications if they are untreated, especially if it's a strep infection.

Go to the doctor and insist on a throat swab to find out what bacteria is causing this and a longer course of antibiotics (none of this Z-pack nonsense).

If you don't feel better after you finish ALL of your antibiotics, you need to go back to the doctor again. I had a strep infection when I was about 22 that took 4 courses of antibiotics (the last one lasted like 3 weeks), but I haven't had it since. The more time you wait to go back to the doctor when the symptoms come back the more time the bacteria have to re-grow, stronger than ever.

I agree with MyrahU in that the bacteria that's causing the infection is strong enough to resist the first level of antibiotics. So you may need to take a higher level of antibiotics with higher potency. For lung infection try obtaining an x-ray image of your chest. The abdominal pain could also be due to gastric problem.

Yes, you really need to go to the doctor again because you don't want to develop something serious. A good health is as important as anything else!

Good luck!

with antibiotics we need to have a course of good bacteria or we will create other issues acidofolous, bifida & casei are three of those which are commonly available in capsule or food like yoghurt.
another way you could treat this is that your immune system is weak & building this up is a possitive.Detoxifying the system & having a alkalizing diet. also unprocessed salt & proper hydration. look up vital functions of salt in the body.
i'm extremely short of time now but if anyone would like to know more reply here or send a message by clicking my username picture & send a message & i will help you study this.
