Hi there, I am a 16 year old male and i am very worried because i gave unprotected oral sex to my boyfreind(he did not ejaculate) and gave/recieved protected anal sex for the first time on saturday 19 th, it is now wednesday 23rd and i have a sore throat, runny nose and sometimes sneezing, is there any way this could be any sort of sti/HIV? If not could the sore throat be anything to do with recieveing unportected oral sex on the 20th march? that was with my last boyfreind who i am no longer with. I dont want people to think i sleep around its just the way things have happened, this is only my second relatinship. if anyone can help me i would appreciate it alot! thanks for your help.

Hi gizmos....HIV would not show up so rapidly but there are other STDs that it could be. Go to the clinic and get tested. Remember that disease can be spread threw oral sex as well as anal sex so always practice safe sex and who ever your partner has slept with is the same as you sleeping with them..you can never be too safe and too careful. I am sure it is nothing major or life threatening...get to the clinic and ask questions and be honest about everything.

Thanks for your help homerx. im just hoping its a cold, my mum doesnt know about the other stuff but she said it sounds like i have a cold from my voice, can sti symptons be just like a cold? thanks.

Some STD symptoms can resemble a cold,yes....if it is a cold then that is all it is. Tell you what,if the symptoms persist like for a month then go ahead and get tested,OK? Most countries have free and anonymous testing clinics. Even if you are under 18. It should go away if it is a cold. If it is an STD, and if you think it might be, then it will be to your benefit to get tested for STDs,not just HIV. Most STDs can be resolved with a simple shot or pills, and take this as a good learning experience and remember this the next time you are tempted to do something unsafe. I hear you. I never had any problems in my sexual life until my former BF finally was over here with me after being with someone else. I had a really bad sore throat, looked and saw my tongue was green. Also had developed a bad vaginal infection. Never had any of that before. And, I am talking bad infection.

My doctor tested me. She gave me a shot and it seemed to clear up whatever in the world that was.

That is just my story. You are a young person. Listen to Homer and always play safe.

Hey there Roberta777, Sorry to hear about your 'incident',can i just ask how long your sore throat lasted for? I am a little more worried as i have just woken up to find that my left eye is more moist than normal and that it is slightly more bloodshot than my right eye, when i woke up i had to wipe it away with my hand as it was underneath my eye to!! eek!! I have spoken to my bf and we are going to go to the GUM clinic next friday 2nd may, and we will both get tested, i just hope if i do have anything that it won't get worse by then!I know Homerx said leave it a month but im going out of my mind here!!! Hey there everyone,
Just thought i would let u know how everything is going, but mostly homerx!
Me and my boyfreind never did go to the clinic and we both split up around the middle of may, i've left meeting people since then and have just got on with my life becasue i got fed up with it all! Since then i have had no physical symptons or sore throats, which is good! I've learnt from all of this and when i do get into relationship to take it slow, and we will both get tested before we get into anything which i a good idea!
Sorry for talkin a load of rubbish i just thought i would let homerx know how it is all goin! cheers!

Depending upon how rough you are with oral sex it can give you a sore throat...I know sometimes I get a sore throat...because for obvious reason it hits the back of your throat. Smile

Rough Oral Sex
Jaydensmommy,

I had rough oral sex a week ago where there was a lot of gagging. The following day i had a really bad sore throat and it's gotten worse through today. Could it be some type of acid coming up with the gagging? Just blunt trauma? How long do your sore throats last after things like this? it's been about 8 days now.

i gave my boyfriend a blowjob and the next day i get a sorethroat and when i was brushing in the morning, if i coughed really hard i would spit out a little blood. also ive been sneezing and having a runny nose. its really cold here and im just wondering if its a bad cold or anything serious?
