In most cases, the acute onset of a tender mass adjacent to the anus is the result of benign inflammatory conditions such as thrombosed (clotted) hermorrhoids, perianal abscesses, anal fissures, and anorectal fistulas. However, it is, of course, not possible to offer a specific diagnosis to patients over the internet. Therefore, it is best that you see your physician for a proper evaluation (there is really no cause for avoiding a necessary visit with your doctor due to embarrassment issues).

Not to scare you, but it could also very well be Herpes. My best friend was worried about the same thing, and she told me about it because she was embarrased to go to her Dr. and scared. She didn't go. She waited it out. It didn't go away for like 2 weeks. Then it happened to her again, and it was very painful for her. I had to beg her to go to the doctor, as there was no way that I was going to check it out for her. lol. Even if I could, what could I have done? So she went to the Dr. and it was Herpes. She takes a little pill to get rid of her flare ups now and has to take like 3 a day until it completely goes away. She said it goes away in like 5 days now instead of like 2 weeks. She only takes one when she has a flare up. It happens to her like every 4 maybe 5 mths. She is like a sister, and she would kill me if she knew I was telling ppl. I didn't name names though! Go tg the doctor. It may not be this, but I am just trying to make you aware that it could be...
