Hi, there. I've been a gout sufferer for
about 5 years and (as anyone with gout
would do) I have done a lot of research
about the disease. Lately, however, my
symptoms have been kind of unusual. For
example, the pain has not felt as much
like a sharp pain, but rather it feels
like my feet are just very sore and tired.
Also, the pain is no longer in one
certain spot. It is a dull ache in
several places all at once, along the
bottoms of my feet (heels, arches, balls
of the feet).
It feels as though I have been walking or
standing all day, but I have not. On one
hand, I am glad that the pain is not as
severe as usual, but on the other hand I
kind of wish I could go ahead and have one
big, painful attack and get it over with.
Instead, my feet just hurt all the time.
Do these types of symptoms still sound
like gout? Or, is it possible that I have
some other problem going on? I have asked
the doctor about it, but all he did was
test my uric acid level and confirmed that
it was gout.
Gee, thanks a lot. I already know I have
a high uric acid level, but that does not
DISPROVE the possibility of other
problems. Has anyone else had these
symptoms?
By the way, I have tried the "baking soda"
remedy that so many of you have praised.
I think it may have lowered the frequency
of my attacks a little, but it has not
eliminated them completely.
