I had sex with my 17yr old girlfriend on the 11days after her periods. She took a Unipill after 3days. This month her period is late. But she has no signs of pregnancy. Rather she is experiencing contractions as she would before her periods. Having said that, a pregnancy test was taken that said positive. I'm scared. I know i did a very big mistake. I don't know how to consult a doctor. What if they deny doing an abortion because we're both under eighteen? Please tell me some way we could abort the pregnancy. Would eating papayas work? Please do reply.

Welcome to ehealthforum and thanks for writing us

Emergency contraceptive pills are effective only if taken within 72 hours and later than that chances of pregnancy are possible.The pregnancy test being positive indicates that conception has occured and also symptoms as missed periods and cramps in the abdomen are also indicative of that.

She needs a urgent referral to a Gynaecologist for confirmation of pregnancy by Blood test and USG scan so that further action can be decided.

In Early pregnancy upto 8 weeks, Abortion or MTP can be done medically by using oral tablets but they are available by means of prescription only and for a woman under 18 consent by a guardian is required for this.

Kindly ask her to talk to some family member and visit a Gynaecologist urgently.Do not go for other self methods as they would do more harm than better.

Please help me! she doesnt wanna make it public! she says shel commit suicide. She doesnt know any gynaecologist who can keep it a asecret. What should i do!!!

Call 1-800-712-HELP and they will help you locate the closest Pregnancy Resource Center and talk to you about your options. OR Google Crisis Pregnancy Center. They are free, confidential and will help you and your friend in your crisis. Do not rush into a decision, but be aware of your options. Some of the centers will offer a free ultrasound which can help you in your decision.
