Surgical resection of stomach with regional lymphadenectomy is the treatment of choice for patients with stage II of stomach cancer.
Depending of the affected area of stomach, and if the cancer is diffuse or more locally present in stomach walls, the resection of stomach can be partial or total.
Lymph nodes around the stomach (the ones that drainage the stomach) are removed because the cancer cells can be spreaded to these nodes, too.
Chemotherapy following the surgery is often suggested.
With a stage 2 cancer, more than 5 out of 10 people diagnosed (56%) will live at least 5 years.

Best wishes!
