My friend is Schizophrenic and has had a torrid time of late. He's been in and out of hospital, mainly because he wont comply with his medicines. Over the last month he's been really stable, but tells me he doesn't take his medicines anymore. When I spoke to his mum, she has been crushing up his tablets and adding them to his food, and begged me not to tell him.

Should his mum be doing this? or is this illegal. What do I do because if she stops mixing his meds with food, because he's going to go off the rails again.

I feel alone, and very confused. Thanks for your help...

let it go...
if your friend has schitsophrenia and has been in and out of hospital then he should be on medication. his mum is just looking out for her sons best interest. she'll probably tell him some day but don't you be the one to ever tell him about it. if you care about him you know in your heart that she's doing the right thing. you're a nice friend for worrying though. Smile
