Q: Smooth bump on back

I have a small bump on my back that's been there for months and it's really starting to worry me.

The bump is very smooth and soft. It kind of feels like a tiny packet of jell or something. I can pretty much smoosh it almost completely flat under my finger. It doesn't hurt when I touch it and I don't think it itches (but I'm not completely certain). It feels fairly small under my fingertip so it's definitely not large. It basically has the look and size of a pimple, except, where you'd normally see a white puss center, it's a dark bluish color instead.

I actually thought it was some sort of pimple at first and tried to pop it, but it didn't work. And it's been there for many months (maybe since last year even).

What could this be? Is this just a mole? Or maybe some kind of infection? Why would it be that color? Does this sound like something serious?

I would schedule an appt with a dermatologist as soon as you can. If it has been there that long and has not gone away, there has to be a reason why it is there and refuses to leave.

I agree. Consulting a dermatologist or a doctor as soon as possible will really help to determine what is the bump on your back that does not go away

Thanks for the concern.

I actually just emailed this question and a closeup picture of the bump to a dermatologist and he said it's actually an Epidermoid Cyst. He said it's nothing serious and will never become cancerous but I should have it surgically removed because it could keep getting bigger.

I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted off me. I was so worried about it!
