Smoking marijuana after tendon transfer Posted: 04-03-08 22:24pm
Hi,
I have recently had surgery, tendons taken
from my ankle put into my hand after a
heavy electrocution.
i am in a cast for 4 weeks and have been
finding myself really uncomfortable and
finding it hard to sleep.
Does any one know if smoking a few joints
here and there will effect my healing
process??
any opinions would be greatly
appreciated.
thanks and cheers

Smoking a few joints isn't going to do
anything but relieve some of the pain.
Don't start smoking now: you could end up
with an addiction, and that is worse and
harder to heal than whatever you have
post-op. You should talk to your doctor
about prescribing you some sleep and pain
medications to help ease your way through
this hard time.

I not so sure if it has any affect on the
healing. But, as far as you sleeping.
Would it not be easier to ask you surgeon
for a non-narcotic sleeper like Ambien or
something like that. That might give you a
longer more restful sleep. Just an idea.
