Small tears on outside of vagina Posted: 05-04-08 16:18pm
I was wondering if any of you could help
me. I have a few small tears that I get on
the outside of my vagina (only on the left
side). These tears appear usually around
the time of my period, appear in the same
location, and go away a few weeks after my
period. This area is not painful at all.
The only thing I experience is slight
discomfort when wiping (due to the open
cuts) and occasional itching. I would
really appreciate it if anyone could give
me some insight to what this could be.

If it is itchy it may be from something
like a yeast infection. You may just have
dry skin. I would recommend going to your
doctor to get it checked out to make sure
everything is okay.

Sounds like dryness from your hormones
brought on by your period. There are
creams that can help these cuts, like
creams with estrogen or even vagisal. You
could see your gyno to if there are any
other reasons for this like infection. You
can also see your gyno for cream to help
ease the discomfort you have.

I had the same thing happen a few times
when I was pregnant.
I showed the doctor because I was
concerned something was wrong.
She said it wasn't anything unusual and
told me to put Neosporin cream
on to heal it up and stop any discomfort.
It works.
