I've had a few small strokes (I am 47 years old) and my memory - retaining information is terrible....has anyone had this happen or know of anyone that this has happened too? I am so frustrated - I can not learn things. I am having an extremely hard time with all of this. I feel so dumb - things I should be able to learn - I can't. This has been going on for a few years now.I went to a psychiatrist a few years ago because of all the symptmoms above. We thought it was severe depression - once I told him about the other symptions - he had a brain scan done and it did confirm a few small strokes. I do have an appointment with a neurologist. I am sorry this is so long it has been so hard trying to fake that I can do things - especially when it is something new I am suppose to be learning - people are really starting to notice. My last review at work included that things I should know by now that I don't- that I get confused - that I asked the same questions over and over. I use to get wonderful reviews and even win awards. To go from that to how I am now is so hard. Again I apologize for the length of this but I am really wanting to know if anyone has had this happen or know someone who has plus I am so very frustrated.

small stroke
I've had the same thing happen to me. I started having memory problems. I would go to town and supposed to stop at A, B, And C and would go directly to C and forget all about A, and B until I would get nearly home.
I had an MRI and it showed I had had a small stroke.

I recall the day it happened. You would think I would have realized. I was at the lake for the weekend and I woke up confused and had trouble walking straight (I felt like I was wading in water) and had my speech was slightly slurred. My husband said it was just stress because my step son was on Meth and my brother was called to duty in Iraq. I knew I was stressed, so I chalked it up to that. Since then I get confused easily and when it happened and I returned to work after the weekend, my handwriting was slightly strange and I had trouble spelling. I just found out about the stroke and saw the Neurologist who informed me but that weekend was the time it happened, and now I wished I had known.
