I am 22 and sexually active. A few days before my period I started expieriancing symptoms of a yeast infection, thick white discharge and vaginal itching but it seemed to kind of go away during my period. I have been off my period about 5 days and now the discharge is back and their are two small bumps that you can't really see but I can feel and they are very painful. One near the clitorius and the other on the outer vaginal lip. Like I said they are very painful, and I do have white disacharge but no odor. I need help I am afraid this could be herpes or something???
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The symptoms that you describe (altered vaginal discharge, appearance of bumps, itching, pain) could suggest vaginal infection. It is difficult to comment on the exact cause without examining you. Consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination and further evaluation (vaginal swab/smear test, urine analysis) to look for the underlying cause. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and investigations results) would be started to help you control the symptoms. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle. Avoid vaginal douching, or use of harsh soap or perfumes in the area. Use loose cotton undergarments and avoid use of tight fitting clothes. Avoid sweat accumulation and keep the area clean and dry. If infective cause is detected, and if you are sexually active, get your partner also treated simultaneously to prevent chances of re-infection, and avoid having intercourse while being on treatment.
