small amount of honey in baby's water?

User Profile
my 4 month old baby doesn't drink water, so i put a small amount of honey (bass honey that i buy in grocery stores)just to have some taste in it. It was effective, my baby now drinks water. But I have read that honey is not good for babies under 12 months, and I have been using it for 2 months already. Is my baby in danger now?..
When I stopped putting honey to the water, my baby doesn't drink it. What alternatives should i do?

Hello and welcome to e health forum.

Honey is not advised in kids younger than 1 year, as in case of contaminated honey, infant botulism, a condition that can cause paralysis and neurological defecit can occur.

To avoid such incidents, Honey is better avoided within the first year of life.

But since so far no untoward incident has happened there is no need to worry, but please be careful in the future.

In order to make her drink water, you can dd some sugar in it or you can give her fruit juices instead.

I hope this helps.
