Hello,
I have been having this widespread in my body. I have random aches and pains all over the body which started about 2 months ago. Some consistently painful places are my elbow joints, one of the hip joints and collarbones. I also have some chest pain.(normal elbow and chest x-ray) My doctor ordered quite a few tests and all of them are normal except for the ESR which is 22. My doctor told me that this is indicative of some inflammation in the body which would be consistent with fibromyalgia. She wanted to start me on Lyrica or something similar. I am not convinced yet that I have fibromyalgia. I have been doing a lot of research and I noticed that Fibromyalgia is not an inflammatory condition (as my doctor seems to think) and the patients do not have elevated ESR rates. Secondly I do not satisfy the minimum 11 tender points criteria. Could be something else like polymyalgia rheumatica or something wrong with my bones? I am worried. Should I consult some other doctor for a second opinion before starting on the prescription medications?
Please advice.
