Q: Sleeping on my stomach

Hi Everyone,
One more quick question. I'm about 18-19 weeks along now and I just recently started showing in the last week or so. I've been sleeping on my stomach up until this point in my pregnancy, so far it's been the only little bit of relief I've had with the back pain and insomnia. I'm curious now that my belly is actually popping out is it dangerous for the baby if I sleep on my stomach? I realize once I'm bigger I won't have the option to sleep on my stomach so I want to take advantage of it while I still can. Thanks for your help!

You'll be fine. No one can control what position they stay in all night long. If it makes you feel better, I slept on my stomach (unintentionally) the entire time I was pregnant. There is so much stuff protecting the baby that sleeping on it isn't going to hurt.

you can sleep on your stomach as long as its comfortable, you will not hurt or squish the baby the muscles and fat and aniotic fluid protects the baby even from falls and stuff Smile

As long as you're comfortable. . .
I was worried about the same thing, becasue it bothers me more to sleep on my side usually than to sleep on my back. I read up on it and from what I've gathered it's more uncomfertable for you than it is for the baby, and it's not goign to hurt the baby at all. I've heard the same thing about sleeping on my back. The nurse I talked to said that when it started to bother me, to stop. And eventually it did. So now I sleep on my belly. The only thing is that when I get up in the morning the baby doesn't like it when I change positions, and I get a little queesy from the baby reajusting herself.

I was told its not good to sleep on your tummy in the second trimester... They said to sleep on my left side because of the blood flow to the baby is better on your side then in any other position.
