sleep panic attack or sleep siezure ? Posted: 05-14-08 16:52pm
Hello, im 17 and a few months back i
suffered my first panic attack resulting
from drug OD. Needless to say, it was an
awful expierence and i started worrying a
lot and it left me very anxious for weeks
after until finally i developed a lot of
anxiety and depression that was never
there before. Anyways, im trying to deal
with the problem and ive gotten better but
more recently ive been having these
extremely intense, vivid "nightmares" on a
rare occassion. It usually happens a
couple of hours after falling asleep, i
usually see a person or something trying
to hurt me and then a second later i get
this overwhelming feeling of terror, much
worse than a nightmare, that lasts for
only a few seconds, a lot of times ill
scream in my dream when it happens, not
out loud but in the dream im screaming,
and then i wake myself up out of it,
usually in a state of panic, not so much
confusion, then im able to settle back
down in about 30-45 mins. ive even felt my
head thrash to the side as im getting up.
Ive noticed it usually happens on days
where ive been really stressed out. Its
gotten me pretty worried. ive done some
reading up on night terrors and sleep
panic attacks and it seems like it fits
pretty well but the thing is i remember
the nightmare pretty vividly and it only
lasts a few seconds, whereares ive read
that night terrors usually last longer and
most people have no recollection of them
the next day. I realize what causes them,
being extremely stressed the day before,
and they happen rarely but i want to make
sure thats its not a siezure of some sort
because the feeling is so intense. Ive
never had any history of siezures in me or
in anyone in my family. any feedback on
what you guys think it sounds like would
be great.

Stress or a big change in life can causes
you to have scary dreams. One of the
common dreams some one stressed out has is
their teeth falling out.
Ever feel like your awake but still
dreaming and cant move your body? If so
thats sleep poralisis which normally
happens from stress and normally only
happens if your laying on your back. Its
nothing bad or nothing.
I get sleep poralisis and its very scary.
Mine is always where im in my house and
the lights wont turn on. Then next I here
a very scary noise and theirs a demon
behind me. And I have totaly contorl
overwhat I do I controle my self in the
dream and I know I cant move my real body
but try to wake my self up. Normaly start
moving the tips of my fingers till I can
snap out of it.
