Hello everyone. I've been addicted to food for about 15 years now and my question deals with my current housing situation. My neighbors constantly wake me by banging and pounding on my ceiling because they refuse to accept that the building is too weak. Both the parents and their 3 boys cause much pain to me and my family, and I find it that when I try to stabilize my emotional/binge eating, I'm normally derailed because I'm in a constant state of stress and headache from the neighbors. This has been going on for almost 4 years. I do get woken every single early morning and sometimes go back to sleep for a few more hours but I'm always even more tired and my eyes are swollen.

Please specify to me whether my attempts at controlling myself are failing because of me, or whether sleep deprivation and related stress and constant anxiety are the causes of my chaotic life.

I think it is both. I am sure your eating is due to lack of sleep and stress and anxiety. However, it is also your responsibility to find a better way of controlling it. That is not to say it is your FAULT, I think FAULT is a bad word to use here. It's just that you have not had the means to help yourself find a better coping mecchanism for it, yet. I find meditation works very well for me, but only if it is guided meditation. Try head phones with soothing music when they are makign a lot of noise, or going out for a walk. Pick a quiet place in nature that you can visit and don't bring food along for a picnic. Just bring yourself, a bottle of water, and maybe a journal, and relax. Get out of there more often and maybe your stress level will decrease. Good luck to you!
