Q: Sleep anti-paralysis

I have been regularly experiencing something really weird when falling asleep out of schedule or not especially tired.
I dream of myself in bed, in the exact same position I felt asleep in, and with the exact same surroundings around me. I have no control over my body. The weird part is - I can feel my legs, and my arms if they are free, lift up in the air and move around as if someone was grabbing them and repeatedly lifting and lowering, lifting and lowering. When this happens I am always prone so I am never sure whats going on.
This is really spooky and does not have the "soft" atmosphere of regular dreams; while it's happening I _know_ it is a dream but unlike lucid dreaming I have absolutely no control over it; and the fact that the surroundings are the same - and it feels like you never fell asleep - always make me doubt it might be real. (In regular dreams you usually dont care if something is real no matter how unlikely it is).
This can go on for hours of real time.

I am not _that_ troubled by this but I am really curious about whether it is a known condition, and where I could read more about it.

Thank you!

This is a classic symptom of sleep paralysis. I've suffered with it since I was around 9yrs. old. Honestly, I have trouble believing that millions of people all over the world are having the same basic nightmare. Also, it's said that our brain wakes up before our body and that our body goes into a state of paralysis during sleep so we don't physically act out our dreams. Hmmmm, I know many people who toss, turn, or make complete circles while sleeping. Also, people talk in their sleep all the time, so I just can't buy that explanation. I wonder if it isn't the secret government messing with people during their sleep. Sound crazy? Google government secret experiments and you can find all sorts of crazy things they've been doing to us. One final thing, I always had wondered if it was just a dream, and found out that I'm not dreaming. I managed to get the word "help" out and my roommate at that time heard me, although she said it sounded like it was strained, not normal but she could clearly make out the word.
