Q: Skipping sugar pills

I am on Yasmin 28 and unfortunatly at the beginning of the month I missed quite alot of pills! (not good I know) So when I made it to the sugar pills I started taking the pills that I missed so that I wouldnt get my period. However, I have had irregular brown spotting while taking the pills and I was wondering if this was normal. I had sex on March. 27th but my fiance and I used a condom. Is there any chances I could be pregnant because I didnt take my pills correctly? I have everything that comes along with my period like cramps, breast tenderness and fatigue, but I feel I should not have these symptoms because I should not even be having my period to begin with because I am not taking the sugar pills. Any advice would be helpful at this point! Thanks

I forgot to mention I was prescribed antibiotics in the second week of March, and I have heard this can affect the effectivness of bc pills. But if I am having spotting and cramping this probably means I cant be prego right?

Sorry Slowcheetah!

Ok, if you've been using condoms then I wouldn't worry too much.

But given that you missed so many pills, plus antibiotics then there probably wasnt' much protection, if any, during March. You need to take your pills correctly, otherwise its pretty much a waste.

Next time something like that happens (like when you a lot of pills within the month), just toss the pack and start a new one and remember that you're not fully protected until an entire week of taking pills correctly. You period will be a little off now, but it shouldn't take too long for your body to even out the hormones.

The bleeding is breakthrough bleeding and very common when you first start or there's lots of mistakes. Just keep taking your pills and test two weeks after sex if pregnacy is a concern.

Good job for using a back up method when you needed to! Very Happy
