I am on Yasmin and I skipped about 4 of the hormonal pills and took the placebos so I wouldn't have my period on prom, is this a risk? will it take away from the actualy birthing control? I plan on taking the hormonal pills after I finish the placebos.

No, that's not how things work.

You need to take your pills as directed in order for you to stay protected during the placebo week.

Next time, just start a new pack right away and skip the placebo pills-- you'll skip your period all together rather than skipping active pills.

Use a back up method for 1 full week of active pills and if you've had unprotected sex during this time, you should consider Plan B if it's been less than 120 hours.

Depends on the pill-- there's actually different doses for each pill and some pills you can't even use that option. Here's a site that explains what pills can be taken and how much. If your pill isn't on that list then get Plan B. If your pill is on that list, then follow the directions-- don't just take a junk load of pills. Smile

But since you're basically willing to sacrifice a pack anyways, just take the pill you're missing from that pack and use that entire pack as a "back up" pack for similar situations.

If you're using a pill with 2 different phases (usually marked by colors), then make sure you're taking the same pill you're missing (the last one).
