Q: Skin warts
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 21st, 2008
For over two months I've had these two flesh colored bumps, one large and one small, on the corner of my lips. When I told my dentist they said it was most likely just scar tissue. I am concerned it's more than just scar tissue, and believe it could possibly be an HPV oral wart. I have a picture available at http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/7361/bump nq8.jpg where you can clearly see the bumps. At one point one month ago I did scratch the larger bump off, but it grew back in the exact same spot and size. I don't know what to do about these bumps and have become very self conscience about them.

General Q and A Answer A5134
Current medical status: Raised flesh colored bumps of skin on crease and corner of lips. Have been on lips for over two months. Have not changed in size and are not painful.
Current medical treatment: No current treatment.

The bumps you presented in the pictures look like skin warts. The lips are border between the skin and the bucal mucosa, so it is understandable why it appeared on the lips. It might have appeared anywhere on the body. You might want to visit a dermatologist to determine the exact diagnosis. If it turns out to be a skin wart, then the dermatologist would recommend the adequate treatment.
