hello Doctor,

i have a itching/prickling sensation when ever i am exposed to sun or when ever i jog. it seems that i feel prickled all over the body(especially on my back on my chest and in my head) whenever my body gets heated up. i feel prickled even when i am nervous or in tension.
at the moment i reside in India and earlier i used to live in the UK. obviously the temperature conditions are very low in the UK and every thing went fine when i used to live in the UK. when i stay here in india, my body starts prickling out of this temparature. i had this problem before i left for the UK 3 years ago. but as it was fine in the UK, i didn't approach any doctor over there. but when i came back to india 6 months ago, it was ok eventhough it was summer. but now its winter that is going on here and still i feel i am prickled.
even in the Uk, when i was nervous, i used to feel prickling.but that was very rare and thats why i snubbed it. even now my body prickles if i am nervous (that happens even if i am in an air conditioned room). can you please help me out with my problem. i really don't know who to approach and what causes my body to prickle when i am nervous or when my body is heated up. even if the room is too hot, my body starts prickling. i think it is a very peculier deseas and that stopped me approaching a doctor thinking that they might have not used to these kind of rare deseases. i think i need to contact a speacilist dermotologist or neurologist. please help me out.

thank you in anticipation

with regards

jdsony

what you are describing is completely normal. you are simply becoming aware of circulation in different areas of your body. i also experience this when i exercise, and sometimes when i am stressing about something.

for me there is a distinction between the prickling on my scalp for example and itchiness on my chest / back. i've noticed that the itchiness occurs more frequently in dry climates, and in places that don't have access to fabric softeners. i am also alergic to certain types of laundry detergents - and this irritates the heck out of my skin, even more so in hot or dry climates.

if you can relate that's good, if not, then no matter what, you should not ever feel ashamed to go seek a doctor's opinion. we're all human, and the body can be a puzzling thing sometimes.

does that help?

cheers,
daniel

Sounds like a photosensitivity or perhaps a rheumatic disorder. Your family physician will be able to identify the problem more locally on a full physical examination and direct you to the most appropriate specialist.

prickling sensation in the sun
hi,
u r getting that because your skin becomes dry in cold conditions n thats normal. its more in you as u have a dry skin naturally.
remedy: apply liquid paraffin available in all medical stores on your body n take a bath after 1 hr. do this once or twice a week n your problem gets solved.

doing exercise daily in the morning until u get a slight itching on your body also helps u.

I suffer this exact same thing, it's nice to know someone else is getting it. I've always maintained it's down to stress, as when I changed my job to become self employed and money got tight, it got far worse. Same as when I was briefly unemployed.

I am wondering if it's to do with water intake, as I don't think I get enough that isn't laced with caffine Smile

Hi, I used to have this problem too. Any time I got hot or nervous, I used to get a sort of painful prickling thoughout my body.

I have not fully recovered and still dont know what it is. However, I go to the gym regularly (3-5 times a week), and run on the treadmill for about 15-20 mins. I can do everything normally now.

When I start my exercise I can usually feel the prickling but it does get better after I start sweating and the prickling then reduces.

As long as Im doing this I feel ok.
Hope this helped.
