Q: Skin injuries from sexual intercourse
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 27th, 2008
Hello, I am hoping you can help me, looking for a second opinion . Like the guy that caught a zipper on his penis. The top but of my shaft just under the helmet part, the skin tends to crack open during sex. I think part of it is form the friction and getting larger. My physician says there is nothing I could do, he suggested I trying putting vitamin E on it to help with the healing process. Have been to a dermatologist he suggested some creams, both methods helps for while, but when I have sex the cut tends to open back up. I have been tested for diseases, came out negative. Is there anything I could take or put on that would make my skin there get thicker or at least heal where it wouldn’t break open?

Penis Answer A5001
Current medical status: Cracking on skin tissue of penis shaft
Current medical treatment: Use vitamin E directly on skin

Skin cracks can appear due to increased friction and dry skin. Skin moisturizer applied with vitamin E might diminish the cracks. As for the friction, a sexual abstinence for at least 10-15 days would be recommended. Also, application of moisturizers during sexual intercourse might prevent the cracks.
