For the last year I have had a pinkish brown skin discoloration in the creases of my groin. I asked my doctor about it (without examination) and she said it was possibly fungal and to use a dandruff shampoo on the area. This has not helped. The area seems to grow and retract throughout the month (possibly hormonal). It is darker at the start of my period. The skin is soft and smooth (not dry or scaly at all) and seems to be a bit thicker than the surrounding skin. The edges of the pink area are very slightly raised. The only time I really notice it fade is after shaving, but that does not make it go away.

It doesn't appear to be fungal seeing as I have not spread it to anyone else and the dandruff shampoo does nothing for it.

I am a 25 y/o female. I am not over weight (5'6, 115lbs), I do not have diabetes (blood glucose of 90 after drinking a cafe mocha-no other food). I have no std's.

I have no health insurance so I'm reluctant to go to the doctor at this moment. Does anyone know what this could be?
