I am a 27 year old mom of my first child. I have had 2 moles on my body since I was about 24 that have stayed the same color, shape and size since I noticed them. now that i'm a mom I can't imagine leaving my child behind, so I made an appt to have them checked out next week. I would just like a little piece of mind now.......if they haven't changed shape, size or color since they came up what are the chances they are skin cancer? i've had exposure to the sun, but by no means would I say it was extensive. i'm dark haired, dark eyed and olive complected. any advice given would be great.

Whenever doctors are examining potential risky moles, they look for these signs:

Asymmetry, irregular border, abnormal colors and diameter. If these moles are larger than the eraser head of a pencil, they could be problematic.
I doubt you have skin cancer, but it is great that you are getting them checked.
Try not to worry about it too much until you see the doctor.
