Q: Sinusitis + persistent symptoms

I'm 29, male. Last week I was having trouble breathing at night, congested sinuses, which led to post nasal drip, Sore thoat and full blown flu symptoms. I was bed ridden for a couple of days, had fevers, a lot of sniffling, insomnia, muscle pains and some stiffness, but no coughing. I took some Sudafed, Advil, the usual, and after a few days I started feeling better, the flu subsided, the sore throat went away, but a lingering Sinus infection remained.
Along with the sinus infection, my ears were now clogged, I was still having a lot of trouble sleeping, my head felt full, I felt mild dizziness, some confusion.

I went to the doc on Thursday, after much of the sore throat had gone away, he brushed my other symptoms aside after a quick inspection, told me I had sinusitis and to take some Mucinex.
Not satisfied, I went back in on Friday to see someone else. She was a lot more attentive, did report seeing a lot of fluid in the ears, no sign of ear infection, ran a few blood tests including for Lyme, all of which came back negative. the white blood cell count seemed on target, indicating an absence of bacterial infection. She said she believed I had a strong viral infection that was now subsiding, explaining why my normal cell count gave no sign of a viral infection either.

Because the symptoms persisted, she decided to prescribe Doxycycline yesterday, a course of antibiotics, just in case. I've been taking them.

Everyday I feel out of it, dizzy, a bit confused, my eye sight is a bit blurry from a distance, and I feel some pressure behind the eye. Occasionally I still have a fever with pressure in my forehead (and a bit behind my head, yesterday)

However, I did develop a very strange symptom over the last 4 days. I forgot to mention it to the doctor when we spoke yesterday, but my left shoulder started burning, as if I had a sunburn. Today I started feeling it a bit on my right shoulder. It comes and goes, and although it's soon to notice a pattern, it seems to come towards the latter part of my day.

I have no idea what that could be??? Does anybody know??
Are any of those symptoms normal for sinusitis with fluid in the middle ear? -The dizziness, feeling out of it, hard to focus, blurry vision...
How about this burning, any idea?? (it started before the antibiotics)

I've had a few sinus infections before, but none like this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's all really worrying me!!

Hi,
How are you? i hope that you feel better . i know that sinusitis is a big problem but there is tow points in your symptoms.
First : middle ear effusion in an adult male is something very bad and you have to see another doctor for fearing of nasophareangyal disease.
Secind: pain in the shoulders is nothing except extreme fatigue and malaise .
Don't forget to replay after seeing another doctor and say that you are fine . BEST WISHES

To FaithNoMore, I would like to say you have to simply relax and take the antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor. Please don't miss out on the medications and make sure you have taken the full course of antibiotics.

You probably have developed an acute sinus infection and the symptoms are very severe more often than not. There isn't much to worry. An acute infection of the sinus can take as much as one month to completely clear up. It's a very common disease and it's surely NOT going to kill you even though the discomfort is very irritating. Drink plenty of water to keep your nasal mucous membrane hydrated and try getting adequate sleep and rest.

By the way, did you get an X-ray or CT scan image of the Para Nasal Sinuses?
