Hi, I am from Massachusetts and would like to move to NH to be closer to family and attend school in the spring. I was never married to my son's father. He does take him every other weekend, but works the entire time and doesnt spend his time with our son. My move would benefit my son greatly. Lower cost of living and i would be able to spend more one on one time with my son during the week.

I read that in MA even tho we were never married, I still need his or the courts written permission to make this move. Has anyone been through this? Any insight?

If there is a visitation order in place through the courts you will be required to have written permission from the father and notify the courts or apply through the courts for permission to move out of state. It doesn't matter if you were married or not once you have a court order for visitation you have to get permission usually to move more than 2 hrs away.
