Q: Similar to Sleep Paralysis

So I've been researching Sleep Paralysis and I thought that is what I sometimes experience, but my problem seems a little different. Those that suffer from Sleep Paralysis say that their eyes open and they can't move. Mine is a little different. It usually happens when I'm real tired and fall asleep flat on my back. I'll wake up in a dream and know that I'm dreaming. I'll be dreaming of lying in bed in the same position at my own house. The only difference is that there is usually a person standing next to my bed. Usually a girl that looks awfully like the Grudge girl. My eyes are open in the dream, but when I try to wake myself up, I can feel that they are closed and I am just not able to open them. This lasts for around 30 seconds to a minute. It has happened a few times in the same night right after another. Do you think my dream was just a hallucination and I was actually awake, but paralyzed, as is the case with Sleep Paralysis, or could it be some other disorder? All I know is that it doesn't feel exactly like Sleep Paralysis and it is scary as hell when it happens.

What you describe does sound like sleep paralysis. Actually most people say they can see but that their eyes are only partially opened, not wide open. I've suffered with it since I was around 9yrs. old. Honestly, I have trouble believing that millions of people all over the world are having the same basic nightmare. Also, it's said that our brain wakes up before our body and that our body goes into a state of paralysis during sleep so we don't physically act out our dreams. Hmmmm, I know many people who toss, turn, or make complete circles while sleeping. Also, people talk in their sleep all the time, so I just can't buy that explanation. I wonder if it isn't the secret government messing with people during their sleep. Sound crazy? Google government secret experiments and you can find all sorts of crazy things they've been doing to us. One final thing, I always had wondered if it was just a dream, and found out that I'm not dreaming. I managed to get the word "help" out and my roommate at that time heard me, although she said it sounded like it was strained, not normal but she could clearly make out the word.

Yea, I'm waiting for it to happen when my girlfriend is sleeping next to me. I wonder if I'll be able to see her lying there when it happens. That would be freaky to wake her up while I'm trying to wake up and watch her try to wake me up. All the while, with that scary freaking girl still next to my bed.
