Hi, I am 23 and have been experiencing seizures since I was about 18. I had never had a grand mal seizure around anyone besides me by myself until today, I had one leaving work today in front of a lot of my co-workers and they ended up taking me to the hospital as a precaution. I just wanted to know if anyone else's auras were like mine and if anyone had tips on preventing a aura from turning into a grand mal.
I experience minor auras from time to time where I lose focus in my vision and have to try and concentrate on something around me to return to normal, and most of the time I can do it no problem. My major auras will start from minor ones and then will turn into major ones where I lose major focus in vision and instead of mental things I have to resort to physical things to try and regain my focus on the real world. I will usually get up and move around, and if I'm close enough I will try and run and look and myself in the mirror to focus. If I had to choose a number, I'd say I can stop major auras around 80% of the time. I thought I had never had a seizure around anyone except myself because I figured that being around other people kept me focused on reality, but after today I'm not so sure.
I would also describe my auras in having a third phase which I guess i would call an emergency aura and basically the start of a grand mal where my head starts to turn in jerks, which are always to the left, and then cause my to physically spin in circles for a second or two before I eventually fall to the ground and have a 1-2 minute grand mal seizure.
Does anyone else experience similar types of auras to me? I haven't found anything on the forums that really sounds like my experience.
