If the pain starts as a constant, dull or sharp, stabbing pain in the upper back just below the lower ribs, and spreads to the abdomen and groin on the same side, should be considered as kidney pain.
Pain that starts at the upper right abdomen, below the right rib cage and spreads to the back or below right shoulder blade, should be suspected for pain due to gallbladder diseases.
Pancreatic function should be checked, too, if gallstones are discovered as a gallbladder disorder.
