I went off BC a few weeks ago and got a period EARLIER than normal, after 24 days. My libido isn't what it used to be, which is weird since I thought we were supposed to feel more libido after stopping BC. I am definitely feeling moody though I've never been Miss Sunshine. Smile

I am 30 years old and I have endometrios. I had a baby three years ago and my husband and I decided to come off the pill two weeks ago. I have had horrible headaches, cramps, nausa, dizziness and extremely irritabilty. Im wandering if i could be pregnant? or is it a sign of coming off the birth control pill. I have had two miscarriages one before the birth of my daughter and one after her. Im thinking that my hormones are just out of wack. Do you think?

hi i had terrible side effects coming off the pill but i got pregnant in the first month,at 8wks i started to spot brown dirty spotting, went to early pregnancy unit, couldnt see anything on scan and that my hormone level was after dropping and within the next week i was going to miscarry, that was 12 daya ago and still blreeding not just as heavy as it was though,i would advise any1 that wants to get pregnant to wait a while after coming off pill as im all over the place now would have been a lot easier on myself if we had to ave waited.

I have been on the pill for 4 1/2 years. I came off the pill the first week of September, because I was fed up with the migraine headaches it was causing on the first day of my cycle every month.
During my first month off, my sex drive has improved, which is worth it on its own. The migraines also left. On the bad side, my breasts were extremely sore to touch. I'm in the 20% of women who experience a small amount of pain during ovulation, but during my first month off the pill I was incredibly sore for about three weeks. It hurt to have sex, and even to sit down. I didn't get my period for about 6 weeks instead of four.
This month, things are much better. Ovulation pain was back to normal (minimal discomfort for two days), and just my nipples are a tiny bit sore. This month, my husband and I did start trying to concieve. Beginning a week after ovulation, I started experience mild abdominal cramping. Hopefuly these are signs of pregnancy, but my period is not due for at least a week. We will see!

BTW: Thanks for the advice Rikie. I have an appt with my Dr. this week to get some advice.

Hello everyone,

I have been off the pill since October 12th. Which is when my last pack finished and I had a normal period. I had a normal 28 day cycle before starting Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo in 2005. I have yet to get my period since then. There were times when I would miss a pack for a month and I would get my period regularly. I took a pregnancy test on November 16th and the 20th and received negative responses. Anyone experience anything like this? Should I take another test this week?

Maybe get an actual doctor to check if you're pregnant, since it might be more reliable. And you should know something like that before the holidays start...

Major side effects of going off birth control
I was on the pill for about 6 years and I stopped around October 15th. I have not had my period since, but my body has gone psychotic ever since I stopped the pill.

First two weeks I had the worst bloating and constipation I've ever had in my whole life. That subsided, but then I had minor cramps everyday for 2-3 weeks.

I've also had nausea on/off for a few weeks, but I have never thrown up. Two weekends ago I had the worst cramps I've ever had in my whole life, almost on the brink of tears.

Things were back to normal, now a few days ago I started feeling nauseated again and cramps are coming back. I'm really not sure what to think of all this. It's been almost 2 months since I've had my period.

I'm pretty sure this is all from stopping my pill, but I haven't heard of anyone else having all of the same symptoms as me.

Wondering if anyone has gone to a doctor and been told if all of this is normal?

Coming off the pill
I came off the pill a month ago after being on it constantly for 16 years. I'm suffering horribly with low moods, being snappy, tearful, lacking motivation, hair loss and it seems to be getting worse. No signs of a period either and no not pregnant yet. Off to the Doc's tomorrow but yes this sucks a big one......

The pill ain't worth it!!
Hey All,

Aren't women soo lucky!! I've been on the pill for 14 years and just came off it a month or so ago. Went off before for about 9 months but my skin was so bad that I went back to it. Yes I've had it all; moodiness, crazy cramps, constipation, diarrhea, tired, migraines, skin congestion , hair loss, metallic mouth, bloating, excessive gas, de-motivated.... and the list goes on.It just goes to show how these pills affect us so much and it just takes time and patience for our beautiful bodies to return to equilibrium. I've started taking pms relief tabs and evening primrose oil to help....so fingers crossed! x o Lo*

side effects after coming off orthotricycline-lo
I was put on the pill after having my tubes tied cuz i have very heavy bleeding during my menses, which lasted for almost 2 weeks. the pill helped shorten the loads of it, but im tired of taking the pill because of the risk of certain cancers accociated with the pill. Im worried about coming off the pill though because of the side effects I have heard about are awful. Is it true that you can have weight gain coming off the pill? I thought most women gain weight when getting on the pill? Does anyone know???

YES! I've been off the pill for about a few weeks now, and I have that constant anxious/jittery feeling. I also have "attacks" where my entire body shakes uncontrollably, it lasts about a half hour or so until I throw up or it goes away. Awful! And I was NEVER an anxious person before being on the pill. I think it's my body adjusting to the changing levels, I so hope it goes away! I'm tired of not sleeping well...

Going off the birth control pill
I have had some of the same things. I stopped the pill in Nov. of 2011. I had been on it for 19 years. I have constant nausea, diarhea, constant anxiety and panicky feeling, depression, shakiness, dizziness, light-headed and so on! It's been 6 months and I pray everyday for this to stop. I did have about a month of feeling almost normal in there, but this all came back during my last period. It's so frustrating and horrible horrible stuff. My heart goes out to anyone who goes through this. I do not wish it upon anyone.

Hi there,

I was wondering how long all of your symptoms lasted? I've been off the pill for 3 months now after being on for 9 years. I am so shaky all the time and no one can figure out why. All my bloodwork, tests, etc have come back normal. I will get dizzy as well and have panic attacks. I was NEVER like this before.

I am getting so worried that this will never end! Any insight you have would be very much appreciated Smile

I read about these symptoms, depression, mood swings etc. before going off the pill 3 weeks ago. I started taking St. John's Wort vitamins one before bed the day I came off them, and it seems to be working out great! The vitamins are supposed to combat mild depression and balance your hormones so you don't go crazy. I've noticed some irritability the first week, but other than that I've been happy as ever. If anyone's experiencing the ups and downs of going off the pill, I'd highly recommend trying these vitamins. Good luck!

Also check out the essential oil "transitions" by Saje, it's supposed to balance out your hormones too.

I have been on Quasense for around five years now. I screwed up. I don't want to get pregnant. I just forgot that I had no more pills and no more refills until I see my doctor for my annual exam. I couldn't get an appointment for two weeks after my period was over. So, I have gone two weeks without any birth control pills. I am totally miserable. Not only did I get a cold while I was on my period, but I have bloating, cramping, constipation, diarrhea, and today I am emotional. It hurts to sit down- I feel the pressure of sitting all the way up my abdomen. Must be my right ovary is hurting as I have a twinge in my lower right side. I am 40 and probably never going to want any more children. I want to tell my doctor to take it all out.

My girlfriend (26) went off the pill about 5 weeks ago, it was good for about the first week, but since then it has been hell.. She usually has PMS symtoms for about a week right before her period, but now it is all of the time. She is so mean, no emotion, no sex drive. I don't know what to do.. She went off without talking to her Doctor.

It went from us talking about wedding plans, to I am on her too much and need to back off.. I am going crazy.. I can't talk to her about anything without it starting a fight..

I came off the pill a week ago, had my period on saturday and finished on Tuesday. Wednesday I was sick, headaches, cramping and not feeling great. The symptoms are terrible, and I wouldn''t go back on the pill ever again. I am now waiting to see when I will get my actual normal period.
