Q: Side effect of cytotec ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 4th, 2009
When i had self abortions, i used cytotec, the first time went out so with 6 tablets. the second time around was harder because i had to take 17 tablets and 5 were inserted into vagina. i did that for 4 weeks until it went out. i did not told the doctors that had self abortion.
1. was the diagnosed of the doctors wrong?
2. is this really a paraovarian cyst? if so what's the cause of this? if not what is its cause and medication?
3. is this the side effect of taking too much cytotec?
4. until now im still feeling the pain, how will i get through this?
5. is this the effect of abortion?
6. will i die for this illness?

thank you and hope you can help me.

Paraovarian cyst is a cyst that is not a part of the ovary. It might be mistaken with ovarian cyst. But this cyst usually does not show menstrual cycle related symptoms as the ovarian cyst does. They are remnants of the Wolfiaan duct. They are not a side effect of taking cytotec or caused by the abortion. They might grow large and put some pressure on the surrounding tissue. Surgical removal is final and complete solution. Meantime analgesics are the usual treatment.
Possible complications if the cyst is not surgically treated include: rupture, bleeding and possible infection.
