Q: Sickness after gastric bypass

Hi, I had Roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery 1 year ago and have had great results. I feel good most of the time! Once every 2 to 3 months I experience uncontrollable vomiting/dry heaves and diarrhea for about 12 hours straight. It is so bad that I have to go to the ER. I had another surgery in Dec. and my surgeon found some adhesions and removed them but 3 months later it was back and I was back in the emergency room. This last time which was a couple days ago he did an upper GI while I was having an episode and found nothing. I am looking to see if anyone else has encountered this problem and suggestions on what to do next. It seems that my surgeon is stumped. Thank you in advance. Confused

I get same symptoms after gastric bypass
I had Roux-en-y gastric bypass 5 yrs.ago, and I have noticed that I get diarrhea or loose stools about every 4-5 days,it has been like this every since my bypass,I think that it's just my system cleaning itself out.But I have also had problems with the dry heaves, just in the last 1 1/2 yrs.though,it feels like my stomach is on fire, and it burns and hurts all the way to my back.I too have had an upper GI,and numerous stomach x-rays with no diagnosis,my surgeon wants to do an endoscopy but it hasn't been scheduled yet.Knock on wood,I haven't had any problems in a few months. My problems usually last around the same amount of time anywhere from 12-24 hrs. I've even traveled to my surgeons office in the middle of episodes too,and he's about 3 hrs. away. That's how intense the burning pain is I understand exactly what you are going through.I have other health problems though I am a diabetic, and just started a new insulin 1 1/2 yrs. ago and gained about 50 lbs.back of the 115 that I lost,so I've been pretty depressed. However they just changed my insulin again,(I got an insulin pump 12 days ago) and since I got the pump I've lost 8 lbs.in 12 days,so that's lifting my spirits some.Well keep me posted,I'm curious to know if you find out anything further.Feel free to E-mail me if you have any more questions,I'll try to help if I can.
