Just wanted to share my experience with
everyone. I recently in the beginning of
march started walking and exercises for
the summer and one day my lower back
started to hurt, but i figured it was from
when i was younger i chipped a vertabre,
so didn't think anything. Then over the
next couple of days it got extremely
worse, to the point where i couldn't even
bend over, move in bed, getting up and
down from a chair. So i went to the
doctor they said i had a cyst so they sent
me to a general surgeon, where he informed
me i didn't have a cyst just low back
pain. So i went back to the doctor got a
cat scan, and an x ray both came back
normal. then my doc sent me to physical
therapy. After a month of the pain, my
physical therapist told me its called an
si joint where your pelvis twist forward,
she said it won't show in an mri cat scan
or x ray. I have been going to her for a
couple of weeks now and am getting better
but still have pain, i might have to get a
cortizone shot. Just wanted to let
everyone know since it took me over a
month to find out what was wrong with me,
i mean i'm only 27 years old, and my doc
was telling me it just comes with age!
But see i was right and listened to my
body and now i'm working to fix the
problem. Anybody have any questions let
me know!

still in pain after decompression surgery Posted: 05-02-08 22:21pm
I thank you for mentioning the si nerve.
Did you have problems sitting at all?
I had decompression surgery on 3/21/08 on
the L5-S1 area. They thought there was a
disc herniation on the MRI but when the
went in found that it was bone growth due
to degenerative disease of the spine. That
had the S1 nerve pressed in the spinal
column. The surgeon removed that and now
the nerve has room to move supposedly. I
also have severe hyperlodosis of the
spine. My symptoms took months to diagnose
from late Nov 07 to surgery in Mar 08.
Prior to surgery I could not sit, walk
well or bend. My only comfortable position
was laying down. After surgery, I have
more range of motion, I can sit for
periods of time, but then when I stand, it
hurts severely by where my pelvis meets
the leg and all the way down to my ankle.
The symptoms progress as the day goes on.
I am in as much pain in a way as before
surgery. On my post op visit the surgeon
looked puzzled and has ordered an epidural
lumbar injection once again to get rid of
inflammation. I was very active before
this. I am in pain constantly now. I am
starting to wonder if this will be my
life. The worst part is I don't know the
what triggered it and I have a active
young family. I know I am to trust my
surgeon, it is hard to as each day seems
to be more painful and I thought I was to
be on the road to recovery after surgery.
Any way I appreciated your mention of the
si nerve at as it could be my unknown
problem at this point. Thank you.
