Q: Should GLBT Marriage be Legalized in America?

Many Republicans and The Christian Right and Faith Based organizations have stated that marriage is SACRED and there fore should only be between a man and a woman Rolling Eyes Yeah,sacred,right...here is a good example of the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman:
8 months - Elizabeth Taylor and Nicky Hilton
May 1950, split January 1951.
Famed bride Elizabeth Taylor got a jump on her string of weddings with her first marriage to hotelier (and grandfather to sisters Nicky and Paris Hilton) Nicky Hilton. 19 year-old Elizabeth reportedly said about the wedding, "I have a woman's body and a child's emotions."

7 months - Courtney Thorne-Smith and Andrew Conrad
wed June 2000, split January 2001.
They couldn't even make it to when their wedding pictures were infamously published by Instyle Magazine in February/March 2001.

5 months - Shannen Doherty and Ashley Hamilton
wed September 1993, split February 1994.
(See also Shannen Doherty and Rick Salomon wed February 2002, split November 2002. 9 months. Yes, this is the same Rick Salomon of the Paris Hilton sex tape fame.)

5 months -Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman
wed November 1998, split March 1999.
Like Britney and Jason, these two were wed in a quickie Vegas wedding. Rodman initially tried to get an annullment after nine days of wedded bliss, but the two managed to stick it out another four and a half months.

4 months, 24 days - Charlie Sheen and Donna Peele
wed September 1995, split February 1996.

3 months, 15 days - Lisa Marie Presley and Nicolas Cage
wed August 2002, split November 2002.
(See also Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson wed May 1994, split December 1995. 20 months.)

32 days - Ernest Borgnine and Ethel Merman
wed June 1964, split July 1964. 32 days

30 days - Drew Barrymore and Jeremy Thomas
wed March 1994, split April 1994.
(see also Drew Barrymore and Tom Green wed July 2001, split December 2001. Five months.)

9 days - Cher and Gregg Allman
wed July 1975, split July 1975.
Kids, another example of why you've got to watch out for those Vegas weddings. Just three days after divorcing Sonny Bono, Cher and musician Gregg Allman spontaneously flew to Vegas in his Lear Jet to wed. However, she reportedly soon discovered that his drug and alcohol problems were too much for her, and filed for divorce after only nine days.

8 days - Dennis Hopper and Michelle Phillips
wed October 1970, split November 1970.

6 hours - Rudolph Valentino & Jean Acker
wed and split November 1919.
The jury's still out on whether Britney's marriage was shorter than famed lover Rudolph Valentino's. After just six hours, the bride locked Valentino out of the honeymoon suite! He soon gave up and headed home. However, they didn't finalize a divorce until 1922.

Now my question is Should GLBT marriage be Legalized in America? The nay sayers have quoted there reasons why we should not be allowed to marry, saying its sacred...tell that to Pam and Britney and all the others...hay, my mother has been married 3 times herself and my father 2 times. I have been with my partner for 14 years. My friends Charles and David have been together for 27 years. Eric and Jeff,15 years.Yet we are not allowed to have the same basic human rights as our heterosexual friends. If one of them or me or Ricky were to die with out our wills being in order we could have everything taken away by family members, even with our wills in order, they could still be contested as we are not considered a legal couple. So what do you think?

The Right to Marry
Do all have to right to the protection that marriage provides? Absolutely.

It is time for the people who go around throwing hate at others because they are not "carbon copies of themselves" who have a list a mile long of what is acceptable to them. Hey, what about the list of what is acceptable to us? Don't see those people taking the time to stop jumping up and down, screaming, condemning others to an eternal damnation of fire and worse.

To have a debate, it takes time outs. First, fine, you can speak first. But, remember, when it is my turn, you will shut up and I will have my chance to speak about what is important to me.

I don't see this with the people who are trying to block the rights of gays who choose a partner and marry. There are a lot of reasons people get married. Look at the length of some of your loving relationships. Better than a lot of straight people I know. First, it starts with love and the desire to be with each other, to share your lives.

I vote "YES" Homer.

Love to you and Ricky, Marvel and his partner, Jcarebear and all the others who have somebody to hold close to your heart and share love with.

My friends Don and John went through AIDS and Don died and his mother came in and took everything away, sold their condo, threw John pretty much under the bus. She was spiteful and mean. That has been over 12 years now and John is still trying to rebuild his life. Just can't get over the love he had for Don. I know sadly how that goes. How do you know the needs of the human heart?

Love,

Bobbie

God Doesn't Make Mistakes
Homer, He makes us in His own image; therefore, I know that God knew when He created us, our souls and when, as it is written in the Book of Life, we are born, we came in with what God gave to us, body and soul.

That is why I love you so much. You touch my soul with your love. I thank God every day for all your kindness and goodness to me and to others. You will never know just how much that means Homer. But, on the other hand, you do because you have the gift of understanding.

You and Mson are like my soul mates. Truly. Beline too.

Bobbie respect 2thumbs good respect respect respect hey

Absolutely it should be legalized!Love has no boundaries and neither should the realms in which to profess that love. It is an absolute disgrace that this, our so called accepting country, should stand by and allow for loving , caring people to be completely disregarded due to the fact that they do not fit the demands of conventional thinking.

(I actually got this from Family Guy, but I completely agree with it!)

Why should two people who hate each other (man and woman) be allowed to be married when two people who love each other (same sex) aren't?

Times change, and the [US] government doesn't see that, they stick with what was written 200 years ago. I'm glad I live here, but sometimes I just can't stand it...

But I vote "YES", and I'd sign anything that helps the process along!!

I AM ALL FOR GAY MARRIAGE

Dictionary
Marriage means a contract between two people, it doesn't specify sex.

Bible (christianity)
There is no mention of gay marriage at all and like I said before, there is 362 sins that a straight person can commit and only 6 a gay person can commit.

How does anyone not know we were born gay and then decided to be straight, there is no proof, none what so ever, IT IS A BELIEF.

"I didnt wake up one morning and decide to liek female bodies instead its something since before my teenage years." I am a tomboy, I am more attracted to woman over men and I have always felt that way but Im not a lesbian.

I voted yes as well.

If a gay couple has every right to be together, as a freedom of expression in this country, why are they not allowed to marry?

To me, there is a lot more than just the protection a married couple has. It is that vow that is taken during the ceremony, to be commited forever to that one man / woman you choose to marry.

Will I get married? Maybe, who knows. I am not opposed to the event happening in my lifetime, but as long as I have someone I truly love by my side, we don't have to get married, but it would be nice.

Thanks folks...I appreciate it. I do wish the NO vote would have responded with text to let us know there opinion on why they think it isn't right for GLBT people to have the same rights as them but thats par for the course for some people..a quick stab in the back and then run away in the dark...but whatever. I concentrate on the lovers of this world and to hell with the haters..PEACE and LOVE and EQUALITY for ALL of us, gay,straight,bi,trans,lesbian...people are people. And Lilly Ivy...LOL...I know what you mean.I'm glad I live here to but some times I just cant stand it either...!

That is what I love about women...you can admit the truth about yourselves with out apologies. Can you imagine a straight guy admitting he likes to look at naked men even though he would never actually want to be with one? Chicks rule! respect
