Heart attack usually does not affect the memory. But a stroke which might have occurred at the same time might have caused enough damage for lost of memory. Imaging methods (Computer Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging) might reveal if and how much the brain is damaged. Based on that data, a neurologist might try to give a prognosis of the lost of short term memory.
