short term memory loss
Posted: 07-17-08 14:53pm

I have been getting worse in my short term memory lose and i had a breakdown last night b/c my coworkers got mad at me for not remembering something. i cried and got extremly depressed and didnt wanna go home to my son and was going to spend the night outside. it seems like i got distracted by doing something else and forgot all about what i was also suppose to do. i feel my head is sooooo busy that there is no room for short term memory. b/c i can remember something in the past asap. but i cannot remeber what i was just watching op tv b4 the commercials came on. or if i turned off the stove not two seconds ago. no one understands that i really wanna remember but sometimes i cant. they say i have selective memory when it deals with them but noone understands i cant remember alot of things lthat are very important to me too. is this something i shoult talk to my IM doctor about? or is it just life and i have to deal with it.

Absolutely talk with your doctor about this. You don't mention how old you are. Some short term memory loss is associated with some types of dementia. In someone who is young this may indicate a more serious condition. You should get this checked out with a doctor. A neurologist may offer some ideas. Don't let this go.
