Shincter of Oddi Dysfunction symptoms Posted: 03-24-08 10:56am
I have had three upper GI scope procedures
and two sphincterotomies since January
2008, the most recent was last Friday. I
have never had the bad pain associated
with S.O.D. but, instead, feel a pressure
similar to late-term pregnancy--a baby's
foot right under my right rib cage. I
have been under a lot of stress in my
life the past 4-5 years. I have noticed
that any situation that I perceive as
stressful causes the pressure feeling. I
hope that the last
sphincterotomy--10mm--following pressure
readings will be successful. I am
encouraged to read that many have tried
acupuncture which I will also try.
My questions are: Has anyone noticed a
correlation between symptoms and stress?
I was also in a head-on auto accident in
which I was trapped in my car. Is there
any correlation between injury and
S.O.D.?
Thank you very much for responding.

Hello!
I notice that there is a correlation
between stress and SOD symptoms, and there
have been clinical findings to show that
this is true as well. Acupuncture helped
me with both of these problems, though my
problem is more anxiety than stress.
Easch time we undergo ERCP with
Shincterotomy we run the risk of
developing complications and creating scar
tissue which warrants the need for further
surgery. The acupuncture may really help
you. Good luck
