Q: shave pubic hair for baby delivery?

I'm not pregnant yet but am trying...

I have a big question...Do they have to shave you? Do you have to take any meds, or have an IV/cath or any of that medical stuff while in labor/giving birth?

I'm really not wanting any of it, I dont see the point I wanted to do a natural home birth but as my husband says its probably a bad idea. If I have to give birth in the hospital I want it to be as natural as possible.

sorry if this doesnt belong here.

There are some medical birthing centers which cater to pregnant moms and are designed just for birth and delivery. The problem I have with giving birth in a hospital is that it is so institutionalized and cold...and that's where all the sick people go! Have you thought about a midwife?

I am 26 and have one child, so im not an expert but i can tell you that no, you're not shaved, no you dont have to have painkillers unless you want them and you dont have to have a cath unless they need to do a c-section.
I can also tell you that many hospitals now have beautiful labor/delivery units. I know mine was and you give birth in the same room you are admitted to. They are family oriented and have a home-like feel. You can even get a tour of the unit before you go into labor so that you will know what to expect. There are many options for giving birth. They even have underwater birth options, where you sit in a huge tub and the baby is born under water, lights are dimmed and it is supposed to be a really easy transition for the baby, but I dont know if i would want to do that. But anyway, I hope i helped a little and I wish you and your husband the best of luck!!!
