I've had three episodes of this in the past 5 weeks. I experience sudden sharp abd pain on my left side that lasts as long as 30 minutes. It has been so painful that I stay on my side on the floor of the bathroom. Each time I have been sweating a large amount and I feel like my blood pressure might be through the roof. I turn red and get very hot during these episodes. The pain doesn't go away if I am able to pass stool. It lesses somewhat and becomes a more dull pain over most of my abdomen that is sharp occasionally and lasts for 30 minutes to 4 hours. No vomiting. No nausea. No blood in my stools. No fever that I know of. I generally feel unwell following these episodes, but not enough to prevent me from going about my daily business for the most part. I don't do anything strenuous, but in general I can function. 2 of the 3 episodes occurred within an hour or hour and a half post a meal. 1 of the 3 occurred 3-4 hours post meal in the late afternoon. What could this be?

sharp luq pain
well proudheart the blood pressure change is simply because of high levels of pain, when the body is put under stress the heart tends to speed up, or slow down and blood pressure either rises or drops...which can be catastrophic in some cases, my first diagnosis would be some sort of esophageal spasm, if you have high stress, drink coffee, smoke, or drink a lot of soda it could be a peptic ulcer, or you could have an H.pylori infection, you need to go to the doctor, there will be a battery of tests, some may be a barrium swallow, upper and lower GI endoscopy, or worse comes to worse exploratory surgery...shouldnt come to that thoguh...keep me posted

Doctors recommend that you make an appointment with your doctor if your abdominal pain worries you or lasts more than a few days. I suggest that you follow this advice.
