I'm not sure if anyone will be able to help me, but i'll give it a try anyway. For the last week or so i've been getting a sharp, stabbing pain in the back of my thigh. It happens when I am either sat or laid on the sofa and go to sit upright more or generally change position. There's no mark on the skin in that area, and it's a bit sore when it's touched or rubbed. My partner thinks that maybe i've bruised the muscle. I guess i'm just trying to find out what other people think it might be, and if it is just a bruised muscle what can I do to soothe the pain and how long will it take to heal?

I dont know how i've injured it, I haven't done any activities that would have caused it. My thought is that perhaps its sofa related, the last few weeks i've spent alot of time sat on the sofa with my laptop doing coursework and when im on the laptop on the sofa i can sometimes be sat in the same position for hours at a time. Its a very hard uncomfortable sofa and i thought that maybe sitting in the same position for long periods of time could have bruised it, maybe.

I can't think of anything else it could be other than that, it's an old sofa bed so the uncomdortable lumps im guessing are the metal bars that make up the sofabed part. So it could be that my legs been pressed against metal bars for hours at a time and it's damaged it? I have no idea, all I know is im in alot of pain and will welcome any advice.
