Q: Shadow on lung

I know this is one of the most common questions asked and I can even see a thread on the first page so I'm sorry for that but I'm worried about this.

My mum has a shadow on her lung and she said she thinks shes had lung cancer and she went back for a second test and the results should be out this week. I know a lot of shadows turn out to be nothing, but I searched for it and came across symptoms, some of which she has. Now I don't know if I'm scaring myself here, but is it possible to have some of the symptoms and not have lung cancer? I mean everything seems to point towards it, especially as shes a smoker.

Any help on this would be great

Thanks in advance!!

Symptoms of lung cancer can be the same as symptoms of many other infections and diseases. It is best for your mom to seek medical treatment and evaluation to rule out the possibility of lung cancer, pneumonia, or anything else. Lung cancer can show up as shadows on xrays but so can pneumonia and a plethra of other infections.

Thanks! It does make me feel better knowing that there are other possibilities, but although its only natural to think the worst its best not to be ruled out, the you can't be so disappointed and anything better is a bonus. I will post back early next week with what they say, fingers crossed!

Tonight my friend received a letter
In her mailbox she found it was already opened by someone. She screamed that a number of times to me. The letter informed her that she has cervical cancer. At this moment I am too far to be there for her. I am disgusted that a human didn't make sure this information wasn't given in person. My friend is suicidal. This can't be the norm....
