asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 29th, 2009
I've never use birth control now i want to use birth control pill. I've never been on birth control pill, i m looking forward to one good low hormone pill. I would like to know if anyone has any information on lutera or alesse 28 and ortho lo? I know side effects vary from person to person but im just curious on what everyone thinks of .

I gave birth to my daughter on 19 dec 2008, since after that i was not having sex due to decreased sex drive and total loss of sexual desire. In fact i never liked sex as it was painful but it's due to not having sex. I am also experiencing vaginal dryness. I also want to have breast growth. Please give me advice, which is low hormone bc pill having lowest side effects and can help me in my condition. I know u cannot compare results because everyone is going to react differently to the same medication. but still any pill will help me in this??? someone suggested microlite.. i am not asking you for prescription just few names of pills that you think are best for my condition. And yes lubricants also for sexual arousal. Thank you.

According to the data you provided (decreased sex drive and total loss of sexual desire, painful intercourse due to vaginal dryness), you might be experiencing problems with lubrication. The lubrication during sexual intercourse is for the most part done by the female. Certain glands in the vaginal walls (Bartholin’s glands included) produce fluids which are responsible for lubrication. The production is closely related to sexual stimuli which might be physical or psychological (thoughts, sexual fantasies). The hormone production might affect the lubrication because the lubrication changes through the menstrual cycle, although the vaginal mucosa might become drier in general only with years, when the glands tend to produce fewer fluids like most of the other glands in older people. Certain medications might also cause vaginal dryness.

Before taking birth control pills you are advised to check your hormone levels. If you want to take the birth control pills only to solve the vaginal dryness problem and you do not need them to avoid unwanted pregnancy, then they might be ineffective if the dryness is not hormone related.

You might want to visit your gynecologist to check if the dryness is hormone related.

If no problem is detected, then you might reconsider if the vaginal dryness is more psychologically related. You and your partner might want to try longer foreplay before actual penetration. Different methods of stimulation in the genital area might be taught by a sex therapist that you are advised to consult, too.

You might want to consult with your gynecologist on this issue or at least go to pharmacist to check what brands are available.

Your gynecologist is likely to recommend a medical lubricant like KY Jelly or whatever lube they have personal experience with. Very likely the lube will be suitable to your needs however there are dozens of lubes on the market and you may as well get the one you like the most. I'd suggest going to your local sex shop and talk to the clerk about lubricants. They'll know more than anyone about what people use for what than anyone else in the world. Get a few small bottles of whatever sounds good and try them out. Find what works best for you.

ID is water based and water soluble lubricant...However, I love Sensual Strawberry made by Astroglide....More expensive, but has a very pleasing taste for oral sex...The bottle also is easy to grip.....This again is water based and water soluble...Both of these manufacturers offer a free sample by going through their sites....I think you will be pleased with either of these products....

Good luck,
Caroline

That's actually in interresting point Caroline. Viscosity and flavor or heat may be all well and good but a bottle of lubricant isn't a very effective product if the bottle doesn't end up getting slippery at some point. A bottle that is easy to open and easy to keep a hold of is another quality to look for.

If you want a good pill, I am taking Loestrin 24 Fe, and have not had many bad side effects. Its a lower dosage of hormones, different from a lot of birth control out there. And as for a lube, Wet Naturals is great if you are prone to yeast infections or sensitive to chemicals.

Well Ky does hold room tempature very well but the problem is nobody leaves a tube of KY laying out in the room. It's usually tucked away under the bed or in a drawer where it stays nice and cool and takes a while to warm up when you take it out. I have used other gel lubes. I'm very fond of Wet gel lubricant. It holds viscosity for hours and if you apply it to a toy it doesn't drip off on your sheets so very easilly.

But as I said if you're looking for a good Lube, consult with folks and try a few different brands or styles to find the product that suits you the best.
