My boyfriend and I did it on my 6th day of menstruation and it was our first time. There were still small amount of blood sheds. Last month I menstruated late because (i think) of stress but naturally my cycle is regular and never been shorter than 28 days. My boyfriend told me that he didn't ejaculated inside me but i was just scared of the fact that he might spilled some unintentionally because whenever he is very aroused in the foreplay, his penis intends to secrete small amount of semen without noticing it. I tried to take NORDETTE right after but he was too scared to take risk because we didn't have any doctor's prescriptions. So now, can you please tell me if there's a big possibility that i might get pregnant? Thank you for your kindness. I really need an answer as soon as possible.

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out. Your concern is regarding the status of your regnancy. I can understand your confusion due to the change of events. It is seen that pregnancy only occurs if intercourse occurs within the 6 days prior to and including ovulation. The best timing of intercourse in order to conceive is day 10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation) of a 28 day cycle. Since you have had intercourse on the 6th day of your menstrual cycle, so chances of pregnancy are less likely but not impossible. This is because under ideal conditions sperms can survive in the Fallopian tubes up to 7 days, with the average amount of time being 3 to 4 days. So if there is any ovulation at that time, it can cause pregnancy.

For confirming the status of pregnancy by urine for pregnancy test (UPT),the most accurate way to test for pregnancy is to wait until after your period is due. First appearance of pregnancy hormone, HCG, due to implantation occurs 6-12 days after ovulation. So if you don’t want to wait for your periods and test for pregnancy then you can test at 9 or 10 days past ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test. Aimstrip pregnancy test gives good results and can detect 20 mIU of HCG.I sincerely suggest you to do a urine for pregnancy test and if the test comes negative, then please wait for your periods and repeat the test after 1 week of your missed periods date.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
