hi,
I'm very scared to just think i might be sterile. I had sex for the very first time at an early age. I was only 11yrs old and like 2 or 3 weeks after i got my first period. Four years later i came to realize i had clamidia. I got married at 19 and i have been trying ever since to get pregnant without any results. I am now 25 and i'm starting to think that i might be sterile. Do you think having sex before my first mentruation lead to inferterlaty?

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out. In females, Chlamydia is the most common preventable cause of infertility in women. It may block the fallopian tubes by scarring which prevents the fusion of sperms and egg and cause the tubes to become blocked at the very ends. This is known as hydrosalpinx.

They can also develop scar tissue around the fallopian tubes that makes it more difficult for the tube to "pick up" the egg at the time of ovulation. The problems can lead to infertility and an increased risk for ectopic (tubal) pregnancy.

I would suggest you to get a detailed examination from a fertility expert. You may need ultrasound uterus, hysterosalpingography or diagnostic laparoscopy and semen analysis to confirm the diagnosis. Moreover the other causes of infertility like problems in ovulation, tubes, uterus, cervix, endometriosi s,pituitary, hypothalamus or problems in male genitourinary tract also need to be probed.

Exact cause for difficulty in conceiving can only be diagnosed by investigations to weed out the various possibilities and then confirming a diagnosis. I must admit that it’s not possible to make an online diagnosis as a physical examination is required for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
