Q: Sex after a Hysterectomy

I had a abdominal hysterectomy on 2/12/09 and was fortunate enough to keep my ovaries and tubes. I saw my doctor on 4/3/09 and was relaeased in good health and he said " See you in a year", however I was too emarrassed to ask him if that meant I can have sex too. I took a gamble and had sex with my husband on 4/8/09 and it was wonderful. I used a condom because after a hysterectomy where does the sperm go? Also should I have called the doc back just to make sure sex was okay? It was pain free and wonderful but I am now worried.

The doctors tell us women to wait 6 weeks to have sex...He would have told you if he thought otherwise...There is no need for a condom as you can no longer get pregnant...The sperm and ejaculate that a man releases, just drips back out...It feels as erotic and wonderful as it always did...maybe more...

I would say just take it a bit easy at first...No rough thrusting, but work into it slowly...IMO, you are now entering the most sensual time of your life...

Have fun....We sure have...

I am scheduled for a hysterectomy, keeping my overies. This may sound petty, but, I have great, strong orgams and am just concerned that something is going to change! Any reassurance would be appreciated. Reading articles on the internet can be more than a little disturbing!!

Don't be believing everything that you read....Each of us women are different...Some struggle, yet I believe that your mind plays an important part in your sexuality...It is the strongest sex organ you have...I had a full Hysterectomy at 47...Oh, I struggled for a bit with some soreness, but I would do it again in a heartbeat....Sexually, I became and am twice the woman that I was beforehand....I think so much of this hype is that we are aging...Our acceptance of this plays a big part in our thinking...You think young and you are young...As for me...I am a teen ager with a man that I lust for...

Honey, you will be just fine...Best wishes...
