so... here is another case of hereditary allergy problems... since i was aout 10 years old, i've been having to clear my throat every few minutes or seconds to clear any post nasal drip.. at times i don't even think post nasal drip because i feel absolutely nothing dripping into my throat.. i do have a bad history of seasonal allergies and sinusitis. another thing that has been happening is that my voice's pitch fluctuates too damn much.. one minute i can speak in a deeper tone, and the next minute it's almost a whole octave higher.. i'm 17 about to hit 18 and i'm pretty sure that stage of puberty is over.. i tried ignoring the build up of what ever the hell is back there and when i try to speak 1 of 2 things happen.. either nothing comes out, or my voice "cracks." my dad does the same thing ever few minutes and so do my sisters.. i want to be a vocalist but i don't know how i can do it without hurting my vocal chords by constantly clearing my throat and having mucous like liquids building up at the back of my throat... my sisters are both semi-professional opera singers and have the same problem only probably not as bad. the both sing like angels and still have this post nasal drip thing. i some times feel pressure at the back of my throat near my adam's apple when i swallow or when i don't clear my throat (not always).. i stumbled upon a device that is supposed to flush out sinus and post nasal drip liquids from your sinus cavities and the back of your throat...

any idea if that thing can help? any idea if what i have is indeed post nasal drip or another condition? any tips on reducing throat clearing and build up?

any help is much appreciated. thank you.

I have the same problem. I finally got to the point that I have to take allergy medicine every day without fail. If I get a buildup in my throat I gargle with mouthwash or warm water first thing in the morning and right before bed. If it's really bad, like something thick in the back of my throat that I can't swallow good, then I have to take a puff on my inhaler. (I just use Primatene Mist which can be purchased without a prescription.) But that rarely happens. Taking the medicine daily seems to do the trick.

Have you heard of acid reflux? Its possible its that? Possibly try an elimination diet? Its possible that inflammation is causing the problem with your throat as well as the mucus. Whats the device??
