In April 2007 I was told I had to have 3 discs in my neck replaced. There was no choice, if I didnt have it done, I'd probably be in a wheelchair within 6 months. I had the surgery, and was sent home the next day !!
After a week on strong doses of morphine (MST), the MST started to wear off and I was in severe pain. It was so bad, I thought something had gone wrong so my wife toook me to Accident and Emergency. I had a scan and they said everything was ok and sent me back home with mst and sevredol (2 versions of morphine). I have been on these (with pregablin) for 2 years. I am in severe pain most of the time. I cannot get out of bed without lots of morphine. As a result I have now lost my job. Sometimes, the worst pain is in my hands. I'm not sure what to do. My doctors have given up. They just say keep taking the morphine. I do chase the specialist, but they just say the scans do not show any damage, so they have nothing to operate on. I have a wife and 2 children, and I am ashamed to admit that I would galdly end my life if my life insurance would pay up, but I know they wont. I don't know what to do. I am not a miserable sod, or a moaner, but I just dont see the point of continuing to exist in severe pain, making everyone else's life miserable.
